Segregated Phase Bus Systems

Segregated Phase Bus Systems

Segregated Phase Bus Systems

The ideal segregated phase bus duct solution for rugged applications

Avail’s bus systems are built to deliver decades of reliable service in some of the most hostile environments. Avail segregated phase bus represent an innovative design that provides effective performance and low maintenance.

With voltages ranging from 600 volts to 38kV and ampere ratings up to 10,000 amps, this design utilizes single-phase conductors in a common enclosure with metal barriers between phases. Copper or aluminum insulated conductors can be mounted on molded polyester porcelain post insulators with a 3-phase, 4-wire system (full and half neutrals) to enhance efficiency in a number of applications.

Applications:

  • Smaller generator lead-in power plants
  • Hydro plants
  • Metal enclosed substations connecting to switchgear
  • Transmission distribution substations

Non-Segregated Phase Bus Systems

Non-segregated phase bus duct designed for efficient, long-term power connections

Developed for the most demanding industrial and power generation environments, Avail non-segregated phase bus duct represents an innovative design that provides effective system performance that’s cost-effective and low maintenance.

Avail’s single-bar design means lower installation costs, less hardware at splice connections and reduced install time. A 3-phase, 4-wire system (full and half neutrals) and 2-pole DC bus provides added efficiency in a number of applications.

  • Utility plants
  • Petroleum plants
  • Chemical plants
  • Marine environments

Engineered for multiple environments

Systems are available from 1200A through 5000A and 600volt-38Kvolt and are perfect for both indoor and outdoor locations. Avail’s non-segregated bus systems are available in either copper or aluminum epoxy-coated conductors, and are mounted on custom-molded, fiberglass-reinforced polyester support blocks or post insulators for maximum performance and safety.

Isolated Phase Bus Systems

Isolated Phase Bus Systems

Isolated Phase Bus Systems

Innovative isolated phase bus duct systems to meet global demands

Around the world, Avail’s medium voltage bus systems are found in a wide range of critical applications that demand the highest degree of reliability. For decades, plants and facilities have counted on Avail’s knowledge and expertise in custom-designed solutions to deliver unmatched performance in isolated phase bus ducts.

Deployed as generator main leads extending to GSU transformers and excitation service/auxiliary transformers, Avail isolated phase bus systems are a cost-effective, fully integrated option for multiple applications:

  • Hydro plants
  • Nuclear power stations
  • Combined cycle power plants
  • Fossil plants
  • Renewable plants

The advantages of a value-based partner

As a single-source provider, Avail can provide opportunities for cost efficiency not available with other bus system suppliers. Our elbows and t-taps are welded in-plant and are easier to install, reducing costs in the field. Our extensive shipping capabilities include transporting 40-foot sections with all three phases shipped on a single skid to also lower field costs.

Engineered for optimal performance

With Avail’s advanced design, each phase is mounted in individual enclosures, with conductors that are air insulated and supported in the center phase enclosures by strategically arranged insulators. This safer approach delivers maximum system integrity that eliminates phase-to-phase short circuits, while our insulated saddle supports prevent current from being induced in the steelwork, cables, pipes or other metal structures. Avail can design and install the entire system, including interfaces with major manufacturers of generators, generator circuit breakers and transformers.

Ratings

  • Current: 600–25,000 (air cooled)
  • Up to 50,000 amps (forced-air cooled)
  • Voltage: 15kV–38kV
  • Insulation levels: 110–200kV (BIL)
  • Momentary current: Up to 1,000,000+ Amps Asymmetrical
  • Meets or exceeds ANSI/IEEE and IEC Standards

SF6 Gas Insulated Lines

SF6 Gas Insulated Lines

SF6 Gas Insulated Lines

A global leader in high-voltage SFinsulated bus systems

Avail’s SFgas insulated transmission line (GIL) delivers economical long-distance power transmission, with superior reliability and a longer lifecycle to reduce ownership costs. With a compact system design, fabricated elbows and a large current capacity, GIL offers complete system flexibility.

Capitalizing on the advantages of SF6 systems

As the only North American manufacturer of GIL for use in high-voltage transmission and substation applications, Avail has developed an optimal alternative to conventional cable systems and overhead lines. Our GIL offers a range of advantages over conventional GIS bus designs, high voltage cables and overhead transmission lines.

  • Fabricated elbow design enables changes in direction at any angle between 90˚ and 180˚
  • Section lengths of up to 18 meters (60 feet) minimize production and installation costs
  • More power per circuit – continuous capacity through 8,000 amperes
  • Reduced in-service failures
  • Flange bolted design allows for quick installation without specialty-trained crews or special equipment
  • Voltage ranges from 115kV – 1,200kV
  • Versatile routing options
  • Low profile designs for improved aesthetics and security

Offering high current capacity with minimal power loss, Avail GIL provides low profile designs for improved aesthetics and secutrity, and virtually limitless flexibility with a longer operating life of 50 years.
